THE BAWDIES Win CD Shop Awards Grand Prize

Posted by Noah On January - 31 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Remember when Kaiden introduced THE BAWDIES just earlier this month? It looks like the band is having a great start to the new year!

Despite being hacked a while ago, they’ve been keeping on track and things have been paying off for them. The band has just been rewarded as the grand prize winner of the “2nd CD Shop Awards”.

Here’s what TokyoGraph had to say about the band’s success:

The winners of the 2nd CD Shop Awards were announced on Thursday. The awards were voted on by a nationwide organization of CD shop employees.

This year, the grand prize was given to rock band THE BAWDIES for their album “THIS IS MY STORY.” The group formed in 2004 and released their first indie album two years later. “THIS IS MY STORY,” released last April, is their first one on a major label.

According to the rest of the article, the runner-ups for the title went to Ryujin Kiyoshi’s “PHILOSOPHY” and Superfly’s “Box Emotions”. Honorable mentions went out to the other seven nominees, “Free” by Mao Abe, “Shinshiro” by Sakanaction, “Sanmon Gossip” by Ringo Shiina, “Ainowa” by Hanaregumi, “FACT” by FACT, “Shamble” by UNICORN, and “Altocolony no Teiri” by RADWIMPS.

Must be pretty exciting for the band! Definitely looks like more good things will come to them this year. Who do you think should have won the title?

ex. Berry Bell Member Returns

Posted by Kaiden On January - 31 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

In early December we mentioned that the Vambie. lost two of their members, guitarist saya, and drummer kaim. However on the 2nd of February at their Meguru Rock-Maykan oneman live, they will be introducing their brand new drummer なると(Naruto)! He was once a member of the band Berry Bell, and stayed with them until they disbanded in mid-2009. After the disbanding of Berry Bell he joined up with the Vambie. as a support member.

He’ll fit right in I think, don’t you? You can find his blog here.

The oneman that they will be hosting on February 2nd will be a onecoin (usually 500yen) live! Both advanced and door tickets are 500yen, like I said above, it will be held at Meguro Rock-Maykan around 18:30.

Also the band is redoing their website a bit, so we’ll keep you updated on that as well.

Remember the “Manatsu no Utage” event in 2007 and 2008? It was held by NHK’s Special Program MUSIC JAPAN with a variety on Visual Kei bands performing.

Well guess what? It’s back!

It’s gone through a title change, but this year it will be held as [ネオ・ビジュアル系 春爛漫の宴2010 / Neo Visual Kei "Spring in Full Bloom" Feast 2010]

And according to an article by MUSIC JAPAN+ :

Not just in Japan, but bands, who are popular all over the world will be performing at NHK Hall for this special event.

This year’s lineup will be as follows:

【Performing artists】

Ayabie, Alice Nine, Versailles, cali≠gari, girugamesh, SID, Plastic Tree, MUCC

Unfortunately, the ticket application period has already come to an end, however, we can all still look forward to the airing on NHK!!

Pretty exciting, right? I liked the program a lot in past years, and I’m sure it won’t disappoint this time around as well.  Just from looking at the line-up, it’s going to be quite the show! There seems to be a few bands that performed in previous years, who are returning, such as Alice Nine and Plastic Tree.

Posted by Kaiden On January - 31 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

heit is a band that went on a short activity pause in the later part of 2009 due to only having just two members. However, vocalist 絵真(Ema), has promised that January 2010 was the rebirth of heit, and it truly was. They had their revival live just the other day at MESSE HALL, and they had a good reception. Everyone finally saw their newest member guitarist Mitsuru.

After their revival live, they also opened up their OHP for the first time, it can be visited by the address below:
http://www.heit.jp/

The band also recently announced a new live for February already, and it will be on the 25th at BESSIE HALL. The live will be entitled “EXPLOSIVE PHENOMENA vol.40″, and it will be with bands such as m:a.ture, Alvaro, and JACK FROST. All bands are from Hokkaido! The tickets for the show are 1,500yen in advanced, and 2,000yen for door tickets. So make sure you go and see them if you can.

Also, if you do go to see their live, they will be selling their two demonstration singles that they released late 2009, and have only a few left. You can few the details of those releases here.

Megaromania’s Hiatus

Posted by Kaiden On January - 30 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Unfortunate news for fans of Megaromania. Some of the members of the band will be departing, however they have not officially announced which ones are leaving or staying. They are going to have one final release with the current line up, which we’ve mentioned before, here.

Here are the messages that the band members left behind on VisuNavi for all of their fans.

● Vocalist 翠(Sui)’s Message ●

Since the formation of Megaromania, we have not had a single break. It has left us in a state where we cannot jump the hurdles that we have made for ourselves, thus falling flat on our faces. So we unanimously decided that after our live at Shibuya BOXX, our activity will go to an end, and so will the familiar faces you’ve come to know.

Since the decision and the official announcement has been posted, there has been much time to think about the band and just what we could do with our limited time remaining. What is it that we could possibly do and if we could perform our very best with everything as it is.

During the 3man event, I wonder if I can give my fellow band members a reassuring sign, performing along side them during our toumeihan oneman tour, showing them my gratitude, making sure that each of our lives are perfect.

On March 10th, we will be releasing our selection album, Oblivious. Our new song Oblivious is possibly the best song Megaromania has ever produced.

I would be very happy even if you just listened to our old music.

Megaromania will stop activities for now, but I promise everyone that we will re-encounter each other once more another time. There’s only a little time left, our devoted fans, please come and see all five of us on our final stage.

● Guitarist 美沙麗(Misery)’s Message ●

On the 10th of March, our selection album will be releasing, but it will be the last release that the 5 of us will do together. I think that our new song Oblivious is very suiting for the road Megaromania will be taking.

The selection album will include a lot of the songs that everyone has grown to love over the time we have been together.

Though there’s only a little time until our last live on March 31st, I hope that all five members can leave a lasting impression in the minds of all of our fans during the toumeihan oneman tour.

I treasure everything that we’ve accomplished together, I’ll keep doing my best until the end.

● Guitarist 蜘影(Chikage)’s Message ●

There’s only a little bit of time with the current members, and I know that many people are very surprised by that.

Are album that is coming out on March 10th will host an unpublished song entitled “Oblivious”, and I really think that will be a turning point for Megaromania. It’s the last release that all five of us will do together, so we definitely had a lot of feeling go into it, by all means please listen to it.

Even if our activities with these five members will end after the oneman tour in March, there’s so much still left to accomplish.

There’s only a few more lives left until the end, but I hope everyone can manage to come see us, and anticipate our arrival.

● Bassist 氷牙(Hyoga)’s Message ●

Even if I still can’t believe it, our activities with the current line-up will be over in March, and it’s already been decided. It always felt like we’d be making music together, it was as if we were all in one form. Despite our decision we still have to move on. The fans who are devoted to us will wait for us and believe in our choices.

Our label and staff has always given us support with all of their strength, and so have the member’s of Megaromania.

For our own sake, we have decided this. We’ll always keep facing foward looking towards the coming days.

Megaromania will be going on a short activity pause, but we have so much more growing to do musically, so we’ll definitely return again.

There is no time to reminisce. I just want to focus on giving the time we have left all of my strength, for myself, and the members.

Everyone, please take the memories from our last oneman tour and our final release “Oblivious, which is the last release all five of us will make together, and keep it within your hearts forever.

This is Megaromania’s response to the future.

● Drummer 憐蛇(Lida)’s Message ●

On March 31st, at Shibuya BOXX, you will be greeted with the existing members of Megaromania. However it will be the final live with this line-up.

There has been various things that I’ve been thinking about lately, but I don’t want to think about anything this year except being the best drummer.

I know we’ve had many oneman’s, but this one will definitely be the best and have a great amount of success.

Even if the band will go on a short hiatus, Megaromania will evolve and return in the future. I hope that you will continue to watch over us as you always have.

As I mentioned above, Megaromania will be hosting their final toumeihan, and it will be entitled “Oblivious of farewell”.

D’LORE has updated their OHP with a brand new look along with the announcement that the band will be holding their very first oneman live this spring!

Posted by Kaiden On January - 30 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

After  √eight lost their vocalist 狂太郎(Kyotaro) in 2007, the band took a hiatus for a while. Finally they returned in 2008, announcing that they have a new vocalist. After having their live in early January, the band decided to call it quits. No reason was specifically given, however they did say that they will update everyone about their future plans via their blogs.
